Covid 19 - the vaccine rollout

If you are based in the UK or Ireland, you have probably heard that the vaccine is being rolled out to the first recipients over the coming month or so.

I can only stomach listening to or reading so much of the mainstream news at present, and - partly for this reason - I don't have the full details yet. E.g., I don't know - presently - whether the vaccine will become mandatory or not. It is evident, however, that the government are planning a concerted campaign to try to get people 'on board' with the vaccine.

The Government seem to be paying little or no attention to experienced voices from within the scientific community - who have pointed out that a) many people may already have immunity to the virus, b) the safety of these vaccines is largely untested, c) the danger that this virus poses to all but the most vulnerable in our populations has been largely exaggerated.

If a person objects to accepting the vaccine, it does not mean that they are 'anti-science' - or even 'anti-vaccine' necessarily. It is a question, largely, of having control over one's own body - of bodily integrity.

If employers and retail stores insist that only vaccinated people can enter their premises, that might be morally acceptable (even though the 'science' they would be basing this decision on is fraudulent). It is, after all, 'their premises'. It might, in some cases, even be morally acceptable if landlords or universities took the same position. The question of access to public services - transport - would be more ambiguous, because these are funded by tax payers - who have been lied to and misled during this Covid 19 saga.

However, if the government propose to vaccinate everyone, period, that is not morally acceptable. That is assault.
